Janne Beldman Dit project werd mede mogelijk gemaakt met financiering van Stichting Droom &amp; Daad en de Ontwikkelings- en Onderzoekssubsidie van CBK Rotterdam Beste Anna, - een onderzoek naar de schrijfster Anna Blaman (1905-1960) In gedachten wandel ik door Anna Blamans kamer. Ik blader door haar boeken, trek mijn schoenen uit en ga stiekem liggen op haar bed. Ik lees de brieven die ze kreeg van vrienden en geliefden, volg haar sporen en probeer te kijken door haar bril. Anna, ben je daar? &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Anna Blaman (1905-1960) was een Rotterdamse schrijfster. Ze was openlijk lesbisch, in die tijd een groot taboe, maar zag zichzelf niet als voorvechter van een beweging. Een belangrijk thema in haar werk is de vraag of we een ander werkelijk kunnen kennen. De personages in haar romans zijn vaak alleen en verlangen naar een ander, die altijd onbereikbaar blijft. In 1948 publiceerde Blaman de roman Eenzaam Avontuur, die erg veel stof op deed waaien vanwege enkele (homo-)erotische personages die in het boek voorkomen.&nbsp; In mijn werk staat het idee van het huis centraal: een plek waar mijn privéleven en werk samenkomen. Daar is het idee ontstaan om het verhaal te vertellen van een hedendaagse vrouw die terugkijkt op situaties waarin ze niet gezien werd, waarin haar grenzen werden overschreden en waarin haar vrouw-zijn aanleiding gaf voor anderen om haar te vertellen wie ze is en hoe ze moet zijn. Met dit onderzoek wil ik Anna Blaman verkennen als personage voor een roman. Door Anna’s ogen wil ik de ervaringen van de hedendaagse vrouw vanuit een ander, historisch perspectief bekijken. Samen navigeren we de (on)mogelijkheden van menselijk contact. Een belangrijk thema in Anna’s werk is namelijk de vraag of we een ander werkelijk kunnen kennen. De personages in haar romans zijn vaak alleen en verlangen naar een ander, die altijd onbereikbaar blijft. Voor mij fungeert Anna als motor voor vragen, gesprekken en correspondenties rondom feminisme in Nederland, schrijvende vrouwen en de canon, anders-zijn, homo- en vrouwenemancipatie, eenzaamheid en vriendschap. De beelden, teksten en geluiden die ik vind en maak, verzamel ik in een virtuele ruimte in het programma SketchUp. research ~ Húsgenoaten: echo’s en sporen van een lesbisch archief During an artist-in-residency at Kunsthuis SYB in 2023, Pia and Katinka started researching the Lesbisch Archief Leeuwarden (Lesbian Archive Leeuwarden, later named the Anna Blaman Huis) which existed from 1976 until 2013. They considered what it means to open up this archive in an artistic context. With this project, they reproduce the gestures of an archivist when they search, browse, pack, unpack and copy materials from the archive and, when they share their project with an audience, carry on the role of desk clerk and spokesperson. An important part of this practice for Pia and Katinka is the affective relationship with the material, an echo of the intimacy from the early days of the archive, while drawing on their bond as roommates. The publication ‘Lesbisch Archivaria’ is a fanzine about the Lesbisch Archief Leeuwarden (L.A.L.), made by Pia Louwerens en Katinka van Gorkum during their residency at Kunsthuis SYB. ‘Lesbisch Archivaria’ was also the name of the periodical printed by the L.A.L., in which they published updates about their collection, ads and other information for their readers. In this ‘continuation’ of the zine, Pia and Katinka have merged material documenting their contemporary relationship to the archive and their collaboration and co-habitation as friends and roommates with material from the former L.A.L. Nu wrik ik haar open. Overleef je dat?’ ‘Kamer I - Oesters’ is een kort verhaal geschreven in het kader van het kunstproject Beste Anna,. Hierin fungeert de figuur van de openlijk lesbische Rotterdamse schrijfster Anna Blaman als motor voor vragen, gesprekken en correspondenties rondom feminisme, schrijvende vrouwen en de canon, anders zijn, eenzaamheid en vriendschap. Ook verkent Katinka met dit onderzoek Anna Blaman als personage voor een toekomstige roman. In ‘Kamer I - Oesters’ betreedt de hoofdpersoon Anna’s met een rolkoffer vol boeken van andere schrijvers, fluistert ze hun woorden in de kieren in Anna’s muren en verleidt ze Anna met een pauwendans. Anna Blaman (1905-1960) was openlijk lesbisch, in die tijd een groot taboe, maar zag zichzelf niet als voorvechter van een beweging. Een belangrijk thema in haar werk is de vraag of we een ander werkelijk kunnen kennen. De personages in haar romans zijn vaak alleen en verlangen naar een ander, die altijd onbereikbaar blijft. The advertisements were created based on one-on-one conversationsduring a performance, in which the audience was presented with a series of photos of objects that belonged to the artist. They were asked to decide which objects she should sell online, and motivate their choice. The ads include all the various reasons why the object was no longer desired as stated by the several participants of the performance. All objects were eventually sold/given away via 2ehands.be, except for the lamp. In other words, we encounter “things” as coming from different sides, as well as having different sides. Husserl relates the questions of “this or that side” to the point of “here,” which he also describes as the zero point of orientation, the point from which the world unfolds and which makes what is “there” over “there.”(Sara Ahmed, Queer Phenomenology) Orientation Device – deviating from “here” to “there” is a point of (dis)orientation, re-orienting visitors and participants in space. As a point of departure it proposes a zero point in the program SketchUp, geo-located and materialized in the exhibition space. Along the drawing axes – the red x-axis, green y-axis and blue y-axis – a process of mapping takes place with the use of data derived from a communal spreadsheet that was used by participants to imagine and compose their presence in the spacetime of the Performatik festival. Visitors are welcome to ask for directions, rethink their position and gain some perspective on the notions of “here” and “there,” with the help of O. An object that is sometimes easy to handle, sometimes swallows the subject, and sometimes is object and subject at the same time.
