~ Subject vs. Object

Subject and object, how do they relate? With this project Van Gorkum took a closer look at the different relations between the maker and its creation and the role of the object in spaces and social interaction. To investigate this, she created her own object. An amorphous shape that would be inviting to interact with, an object you can pick up and place in different situations. An object that is sometimes easy to handle, sometimes swallows the subject, and sometimes is object and subject at the same time.

This object has to be caressed, destroyed, be an obstacle, be a medium, cut to pieces, repaired, thrown away, forgotten about, dominated, dominating, be the most important thing in the world, suffocating, multiplied, gigantic, microscopic, burned, mine, not mine, given away, sold, lost and found, be a human being, be an object.
